The lovechild of silk worms… Dupion silk
The word Dupion means ‘a cocoon formed jointly by two silkworms’. A fabric that comes from the fusion of silkworms, Dupion silk is aptly called the lovechild of silkworms. Dupion is a medium weight silk and is the most widely known silk made in India. Dupion silks are produced from fine thread in the warp, and uneven thread reeled from two or more entangled cocoons, in the weft. This gives it a unique, textured effect and an unparalled lustre. Dupion silk is an intrinsic part of the ‘back to nature’ trend. The fabric’s irregularities lend itself to a rustic feel contrasted superbly with the too-perfect-looking synthetic silk imitations. Dupion sarees are a natural choice for bridal wear. The feeling of textured silk against her soft, dewy skin is just what the bride needs to make her feel special for the most important day of her life
